The automobile manufacturer Lancia was founded in 1906 in Turin, Italy by Italian Racing Driver and engineer Vincenzo Lancia and friend Claudio Fogolin. Lancia is a subsidiary company of FCA – Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (formerly Fiat Group Automobiles 2007 -2014).

The first Lancia vehicle was the four cyclinder engine Tipo 51. The vehicle was produced in 1907 and remained in production for one year.

The Lancia company is often associated with rallying thanks to its successful rallying heritage. Lancia has won many world rally championships particularly throughout the 1970s and 1980s. Today, Lancia still holds more world rally manufacturers’ champion titles than any other automotive brand.
